Creative Happenings

In terms of what’s been happening around here lately, I’ve gotten onto a bit of a biscuit kick. I can’t seem to stop making them. To the point that I may just have perfected them, which I suppose does feel like something…accomplishment? Can such be said about kitchen endeavors? Even those that do not involve yeast? Really though, these biscuits are quite tasty, my favorite variety so far being the chive and cheddar pictured here. They get so fluffy now that the line at which you pull them apart just automatically forms. No knife required. Unless you want butter. Which, of course you do.

I like these types of creative endeavors, however small. I also like that I’ve returned to writing, after taking an extra long break. The breaks I reward myself with after I finish writing a book, and while the breaks feel like a relief after so much creative output, their length makes the return of writing feel particularly novel and fresh. I mean, WORDS. That didn’t exist before. How fun! Although not as delicious as the biscuits.

These early writings are the start of what may be my next book, but I’m non-committal, in that I want to get a few pieces written first before deciding if I think this theme will work. It may not. (I tried a rosemary biscuit variation that was, shall we say, not a keeper.) But there’s enough potential to give it a try. So it’s back to the writing desk for me. With plenty of biscuits when needed.

Tali Nay

Tali Nay always wanted to be a fiction writer and was thus surprised when "real life" is what came out when she actually sat down to write something substantial. Tali studied writing in college, and then—entirely by accident—found herself working in business. She went on to earn an MBA, although recently left Corporate America in order to pursue her dream of becoming a gemologist. After a stint in New York City earning her diploma at the GIA, Tali now works in the gemology industry and lives in San Diego, California.
